Looking for a Dr. Mike Israetel calorie calculator?

If you follow Dr. Mike Israetel and Renaissance Periodization (RP) and want to know how many calories to eat, start with your maintenance calories: total daily energy expenditure (TDEE). Eat around maintenance to maintain weight, below it to lose weight, or above it to gain weight. Your starting number is an estimate, not a permanent prescription.

Mike Israetel is a co-founder of RP Strength. If you want RP's own nutrition tool, visit the official RP Diet Coach app, which offers diet planning and progress reviews. This is an independent guide; MacroCodex is not affiliated with or endorsed by Mike Israetel or Renaissance Periodization and does not reproduce RP's coaching system.

Calculate a daily calorie target for free

  1. Open MacroCodex and enter your details to get an initial maintenance-calorie estimate.
  2. Choose maintenance, weight loss, or weight gain. The app turns your maintenance estimate into a daily calorie target for that goal.
  3. Record your calorie intake and body weight consistently. MacroCodex updates its maintenance estimate and targets as it learns from your trend.

MacroCodex free app continuously tracks maintenance calories using State Space Neural Network.

Use your own progress, not someone else's diet, to judge your target. A calorie intake shown in a bodybuilding video reflects that person's size, activity, and current diet phase. It is not automatically the right intake for you. Compare your intake with your weight trend across weeks, rather than reacting to one weigh-in.

MacroCodex is free and has no ads or subscription. It asks you to enter daily calorie totals; if you want a food diary, you can use a separate logger such as CalorieCodex.
